About the Author
After pursuing a degree in theoretical physics from Cambridge University, Ajahn Brahm, born in London as Peter Betts, headed off to a forest monastery in Thailand, where he studied under the famed meditation master Ajahn Chah for nine years starting in the mid 1970s. A Buddhist monk for over thirty years, he is now the abbot and spiritual director of the Buddhist Society of Western Australia in Perth, and he is in demand worldwide both as a spiritual teacher and as a popular speaker. He is the author of�Who Ordered This Truckload of Dung?, The Art of Disappearing,�and�Mindfulness, Bliss, and Beyond.

Repackaged content from Mindfulness, Bliss, and Beyond

This only gets 2 stars because it is almost exactly the same as the beginning of Mindfulness, Bliss, and Beyond with a few added words about 'kindfulness' and a couple of stories from talks that I have already heard. Almost no new material which is a bummer. Wisdom should make it more clear that this is a repackaged version of MBB.

Simple, yet very effective

I appreciated the simple instructions on how to develop mindfulness along with kindness. I especially appreciated the example of the starving, scared, suffering kitten as a way to first open your own heart to loving kindness before trying to bestow it on known people.
The reminder that negative states of mind and punishment only cause more suffering. I wish we could bring this concept into our schools.

Mostly about meditation

In spite of its title, this book is mostly a beginner's guide to meditation, and a good one. "Imagine you have no history," he says. And you can't see around the corner into the future. So you have just this moment.
