About the Author
Della Fish is Professor of Education (postgraduate medicine) at King’s College London and works independently as a researcher and consultant. She has also worked part time as an education advisor in the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Postgraduate Deanery for Medical and Dental Education. She has published in medical education and contributed widely to health care literature.

Colin Coles is an education professor at the University of Winchester. Having taught in schools and universities, he became Education Advisor to the Wessex Deanery for Postgraduate Medical and Dental Education. He also works as an independent consultant, running workshops and undertaking research and writing. He has published widely within the field of medical education.

About the Author

Dan Stefanica has been the Director of the Baruch MFE Program since its inception in 2002, and is the author of the best-selling A Primer For The Mathematics Of Financial Engineering and A Linear Algebra Primer for Financial Engineering: Covariance Matrices, Eigenvectors, OLS, and more, and co-author of 150 Most Frequently Asked Questions on Quant Interviews. He teaches graduate courses on numerical methods for financial engineering, as well as pre-program courses on advanced calculus and numerical linear algebra with financial applications. His research spans numerical analysis, graph theory, and geophysical fluid dynamics. He has a PhD in mathematics from New York University and taught previously at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

It is a Primer on Applying Basic Linear Algebra in Financial Engineering...
That is the book doesn't teach much Linear Algebra...what it does is show how to apply
linear algebra to Financial Engineering...but you have to know Linear Algebra ( at the college undergrad linear algebra level)
to make much use of the book. But if you are comfortable with Linear Algebra there are some useful applications.

Indispensable for anyone implementing continuous delivery using the Visual Studio ALM 2015 toolchain

I blog about continuous delivery using the Visual Studio ALM 2015 toolchain (see http://pleasereleaseme.net) so I was particularly keen to get my hands on a copy of this book. I was NOT disappointed. The authors have done a fantastic job of compiling an authoritative guide to implementing continuous delivery with Microsoft’s ALM technologies, and everyone working in this area should go and buy a copy of this book right now.

There is an excellent introduction to the concepts and terminology surrounding continuous delivery following which are in-depth chapters dealing with pretty much all of the different technologies that combine to make a successful application deployment pipeline. Step-by-step instructions show you how to configure key parts of the pipeline such as continuous integration and release management and there is plenty of real-world advice to help you apply the concepts to your own situation.

I don’t agree with everything the authors recommend – for example they prefer migration-driven techniques for handling database schema changes (such as Entity Framework Code First) rather than model-driven (such as SQL Server Data Tools) which I think is more robust and a better fit for teams – however anyone working on continuous delivery will soon realise that advice needs to be taken with a pinch of salt and the important thing is to find what works for your particular set of circumstances.

In summary, this is an indispensable handbook for anyone implementing continuous delivery using the Visual Studio ALM 2015 toolchain which will very quickly earn its keep and pay dividends on the purchase price.

In terms of full disclosure before I write my review, I was involved as a technical reviewer for this title. It is in this role that I can confidently say that I have read every single page of this book. It is a well thought out and structured title benefiting from significant industry experience on the part of both authors.
If you're eager to improve your skills around how to release software using the Microsoft ALM stack, then this is the book for you. The book covers topics including Release Management, Source Control, PowerShell and much more. There are plenty of examples and snippets that you can use directly in your own environment or use them as the basis for creating your own scripts.
Do yourself (and your team) a favour and read this title. You won't be disappointed.

The book for Continuous Delivery with Microsoft VSTS

My job required me to work on automating the release of our next project using VSTS and Release Management - which an MS consultant told me "it's not easy". The book is very well written (in spite of misspellings here and there) and flows so naturally that the book is an easy read. I was interested in the Build and Release parts and was not disappointed - the book describes the hard to find secrets of how to automate the building and deployment of different artifacts (DB scripts, Web sites, etc). But this book offers so much more I had to read it all and am willing to read it again! and start applying some of the several technologies mentioned related to code quality and mentoring.

This is a book I would like to have written.

Simple, yet very effective

I appreciated the simple instructions on how to develop mindfulness along with kindness. I especially appreciated the example of the starving, scared, suffering kitten as a way to first open your own heart to loving kindness before trying to bestow it on known people.
The reminder that negative states of mind and punishment only cause more suffering. I wish we could bring this concept into our schools.

Great book to gain an understanding of the prophets

This was an easy to read (7th-8th grade level) book, that led the reader through the writings of the prophets. The author explained prophecy in the Jewish context and she explained historically what the prophets were talking about coming full circle to reveal the modern relevancy of the prophet's writings.

I highly recommend this book. Gaining an understanding of the prophets has given me an even greater appreciation for Judaism and a greater love for our prayer books (which contain many references to writings of the prophets).
