Great guide to process improvement.

This book is a bargain. Dr. Cerfolio wrote about his process to be successful as a student, athlete, parent, husband, and Surgeon.
The book reads quick, I will probably read it again as there are many pearls of wisdom that can always be reinforced.
Many people from all walks of life could benefit from reading this book even if they only implemented a small amount of his process.
In summary to be successful set goals, measure your progress, self discipline, take care of yourself, do something with your life you have a passion for, understand and manage your emotions, and a few other things I am sure I am not remembering right at this moment.

As I said at the beginning of this review the book is a bargain. Why? Because for less than $20 you can get the inside thoughts of a man who has enjoyed more success than 99% of the population.

"Super Performing At Work and At Home" is a wonderful book. I think everyone should read it especially young people. It is such a motivational piece of art.
Dr. Cerfolio is a magnificent surgeon and writer. He actually did surgery on my son in 1999 at the University of Alabama in Birmingham, AL, I knew then he was super. I do not know how Dr, Cerfolio does all he does.
He is the BEST!!!!
It was such a joy to learn about his book. I HIGHLY recommend it. Looking forward to more.

Full of Great Characters and Romance

I was given a copy of this book in return for my honest review.

I immediately fell in love with Haley and Keelan as well as their names. Although, I have to say that I repeatedly questioned Haley's actions. They were typical actions of a teenager and I think I was thinking with the mom side of my brain a bit too much. It all turns out well in the end though.

Both Haley and Keelan are dealing with some of the toughest things for teenagers to deal with. They find strength in each other. Keelan has a great family to fall back on as well and it a perfect gentleman because of his family. That's one of the things I love about his character. Haley has a great family to rely on as well. She just doesn't realize it throughout most of the book.

There were several other characters I loved in this book. Keelan's brother Cameron is a lot like Keelan but with a bit more repressed anger. His girlfriend is Jess and I'd love to read their story. Then there's the local restaurant owner Elsie and her husband Mr. Elsie whose story I'd love to hear most of all. Plus the town the book is set in sounds like a great place for future books to be set in. I'm sure there are other characters around this town who I'd love to get to know.

Haley and Keelan are attracted to each other from the start and are kissing before long. I love their hammock moments! I also like that even though they are tempted to take their relationship to the next level, they both realize that doing so would just add more to their already troubled lives.

The only reason I didn't give this book 5 stars was because I felt that the end fell short. There were issues with both of their problems that just weren't fully resolved. However, I also think that the things Haley and Keelan are dealing with were pretty big things and more than likely wouldn't have been all better by the end of the book. That's why I only dinged the book half a star. I think it was more a personal issue on my end then a problem with the book.

Overall this was a good book filled with lots of funny and sweet moments. Definitely worth the read!

I loved this book truly! I enjoyed watching them grow together and form this exciting and unique bond they had.. I really enjoyed how the author portrayed the struggles of being the new person in school and a new town.. how sometimes parents are not what we portray them to be.. and how meeting just the right person can change the way we look at things.. great book and sincerely recommend it..

Clean and complex at the same time

About “Bending Under Pressure” I can say that this is yet another “tutorial” about how to cope with big family issues, not necessarily from a teenage perspective. Even Though we have Haley and Keelan in the spot light, we can also see how their families react when faced with divorce – in case of Haley – or adoption issues – in Keelan’s case.

I believe this is a complex book, as it covers the main characters’ story from multiple angles. We see how they react individually, we see how their families react and also how the two of them decide to be there for each other and support one another. I appreciated that the focus of the book was not shifted to the love relationship building between Haley and Keelan and no additional drama was created (like jealousy or other things like that). I can state that this is a clean, simple and honest book, about the pain you feel when your family lets you down.

So I do recommend you give it a try! My 5 stars go for this nice story and I do hope you enjoy it too!

Although I enjoyed the author's second book in this series

Although I enjoyed the author's second book in this series, this one kept me guessing as to what was going to happen. I am grateful for clean romance novels such as this and the innocence of this periods culture. These characters faced more real life challenges than the others but the humor and banter between the four friends still continued although not as prevalent as in her past two books. I am looking forward to Marcus's story.

Wonderful Story!

I really enjoyed this book. I like that this book was not set in the season. Don't get me wrong I love stories revolving around the season but it's nice to have a break now and then. I liked the way the main characters tried to fight their attraction due to the fact they both have a close relationship to Marcus. I love that we got to see them in the country. I enjoyed everything about this book from beginning to end. This author has become one of my favorites. I am eagerly awaiting the rehear of her next story!

Following the characters and romances that are blooming so far in this series is wonderful. I love that this story takes place is the country away from the hustle and bustle of the season. I am looking forward to Marcus's story. Leaves you wanting more. A true sign of a unique writer.

Use this Book for Architecture 101

This version of Vers une architecture translation in English is far superior to all others used in Architecture 101. The images alone are worth the book. Also, the book is nicely sized for visual clarity. Had I known, I'd have recommended this book for my Arch101 class. Of course, it was not printed when I did my Arch101 a few years back and used one that was all text and awful.

The book is well designed and uses what the content teaches upon itself.

About the Author
In the early eighties, Nancy was a dissatisfied Realtor, having serious concerns with the proliferation of “creative financing” among lenders. When the College for Financial Planning presented a program for Realtors about a new profession called “financial planning,” she was intrigued and enrolled in the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP�) course in September of 1983. Six months into the CFP� program, she left real estate to begin her full time career in financial planning. Her instructors agreed that the only way to thrive as a financial planner was to sell commissioned products. For several years she was affiliated with a Broker/Dealer and prepared tax returns on her own. When she learned that she could actually write financial plans for a fee, she established an independent practice to prove that selling on commissions was not a prerequisite to success, which led to a successful twenty year career. She applied for a position as adjunct faculty with the College for Financial Planning (1986-1994) and taught every course in the required CFP� curriculum while earning her Masters in Financial Planning and the designation Accredited Tax Advisor from the same institution. She volunteered for the CFP Board Item Writing Committee (1994-1998) and wrote multiple-choice questions for the series exams. That led to participation writing Case Study questions, questions for the CFP� Comprehensive Exam, and, in 1999, appointment to the North American Securities Administrators Association Investment Advisor Competency Exam Advisor Council. In 1995, she began posting on Financial Planning Interactive and shortly thereafter was asked to help moderate their “Getting Started” discussion boards. After answering the same questions repeatedly, she realized the need for a comprehensive publication on the topic of how an individual can get started as a financial planner. Today, she spends hours every month corresponding with individuals asking for guidance in making a career move to financial planning. In 1999, and again in 2000, she was a panelist for the Los Angeles Times’ Investment Strategies Conference. In 2002, Nancy was named one of the Most Influential People in the Profession by readers of Financial Planning Magazine, and is an American Business Women’s Association 2003 Top Ten.

Must read for those interested in becoming a financial planner

The financial planning profession is a wonderful, much-needed one -- but for far too long, there hasn't been much direction or advice for next generation talent interested in pursuing a financial planning career. There aren't widely-available answers to the tough questions about how to start or get your foot in the door as an advisor who really cares about financial planning for clients they care about. Resources are scarce and it's not always easy to find a mentor to help understand how to break into the profession and succeed in the industry.

Your Foundation to a Career with Purpose!

This is THE guide if you're thinking about switching career fields to becoming a Financial Planner. I personally bought this book about 2 editions ago and continue to get the updated versions. Since purchasing, I have completed nearly all the coursework for my CFP certification and right now I'm in the process of getting registered with the state to start my own RIA. It's been a long journey but Nancy's book has given me honest and clear guidance every step of the way. Even after 2 years of having this guide, just last week I brought it back out to get some help on a subject I needed help with. As someone who has a library of books on entering and being successful in this field, I can say you will not get a more honest, kind author in Nancy Langdon Jones to help you get started with your journey.

Frankly, I just do not have enough background in Indian or Oriental philosophy and culture to understand this book. The beginning was so complex and convoluted that I put the book aside fairly quickly. Thus, my review might be unfair.

The Summary sounded just my kind of book – A perfect mystery with history. Alas! The book exceeded my expectations. I’ve read quite a number of books by Indian wannabe Dan Browns who have just ended up giving me a good migraine. Maybe that lowered my expectations over books involving history and professor.

It is apparent that the writer was inspired Dan Brown, but he didn’t let the inspiration change his originality. Or to put it simply, he was just inspired and didn’t try to imitate Dan Brown like others.

The story is about a secret society of guardians (The Nine) founded by an Emperor (Read the book to know which one) to protect a wealth of knowledge, which when fallen into wrong hands can be used to destruct the mankind. Ram Mathur, A part of that society is murdered. A mysterious mail lands in his daughter’s inbox. His daughter along with Ram Mathur’s friend Patnaik embarks on a journey to solve the murder of her father. And thereby beings the tale of Nine and a thrilling journey filled with brain whacking riddles.

The writer deserves a big applause for his riddles. They were simply brilliant and thoroughly logical. It’s very apparent that the writer has done a good research on the Buddhist structures and teachings.

The plot was well woven with rather unpredictable twists. I’ve never witnessed a modern Indian writer weave a plot so cohesively filled with true suspense. The dual story line ( that of present – Sia and of “The Emperor” ) contributed a lot to the suspense element.

My only wee bit complaint would be the story of “the emperor” was a bit over done that the reader would be left disorient if he/she didn’t concentrate a lot on the book.

The writing was simple and crisp. The riddles certainly deserve a special mention. It’s not an easy task to frame 9 riddles which have that true suspense element and are logical.

It’s safe to say that Indian literary world has found another brilliant and true mystery writer – A rarity amongst writers who make money writing trash life changing “love” stories (Pun intended)

In short, this was one brilliant, perfect and well written mystery book!

VERDICT: Must read! When Chetan Bagat can sell, this one surely deserves to sell like The Da Vinci Code.

The story is divided into three parts.

Buddham saranam gacchami
I go to the Buddha for refuge

Dhammam saranam gacchami
I go to the Dhamma for refuge

Sangham saranam gacchami
I go to the Sangha for refuge.

The echoes of these beautiful words are enough to entice a reader. This story shuttles between the past and the present - without killing the essence and the beauty of each era. Frankly speaking, this is no light read. It took me some time to get into the flow of the story. But after you catch the thread of the story, it is so gripping and 'unputdownable'.

The story begins with the death of Ram Mathur. The death itself is very strange and gruesome. His eyes are gouged out and yet he seems not to suffer in pain but had died with a smile on his face. Why? He had carved the name Ohm on his face with a trident. Ohm not as the most holy word in the Hindu scriptures, but the name of the protagonist Ohm Patnaik.

Ohm Patnaik is summoned by the police of Varanasi and Ram Mathur's daughter Sia to come and help out in solving the mystery. How he is connected to the death is a great bafflement for him. This starts a series of riddles which was triggered by an email left by Ram Mathur after his death. Along with Sia, Ohm starts his quest in solving 9 riddles which would not only solve ancient secrets for them but also solve the murder of Ram Mathur.

Constant danger lurks in the form of Scorpion - the serial killer who was targeting men related in terms of their destiny. Why and how is the most interesting part of this story and without screaming spoiler alert, I cannot give in the details. But all I can say is that the riddles would be the most interesting thing in this book. You would want to solve them to find out what this is all about. :)

Not quite as good as others in series, Maybe Not great for kids scared of the dark

This is book 7 in the Magical Animal Friends series, modeled after the popular Rainbow Fairies books (same formula, two girls encounter a magic being that introduces them to a very "fluffy" version of a magical battle between good and bad). This book is my 9 yo daughter's LEAST favorite so far of the first 8. My 7 yo enjoys reading these series as well, but she has not read this one yet. My 9 yo reads at an 8th grade level and reads these books in ~20 mins, my 7 yo reads more at 3rd grade level and usually reads them over the course of two evenings at bedtime.
Parent Rundown:
+ It is not necessary to read the books in order to enjoy this one, so if you have a young girl who likes foxes, she can enjoy this story.
+ This is a beginning chapter book designed for budding readers, but can be enjoyed by girls through mid-elementary grades.
+ No potty humor.
+ This book actually teaches a little bit about foxes / nocturnal animals, which is more than some of the other books have from an educational stand point!
+ Books contain magic and fantasy as well as an evil witch, Grizelda. My 9yo comments that Grizelda never really does anything which eventually makes for anticlimactic reading.
+ Plot summary: The Fuzzybrush Fox family sees something strange in the sky in Friendship Forest just as the sun sets. This book features the third dragon sent by Grizelda the Witch since the introduction of the dragons in book 5. Smudge the dragon blocks the starlight from the sky, causing the leaves to fall from the Friendship Tree, which would prevent our two heroines from visiting Friendship Forest anymore.
+ No animals are actually injured, but the Fuzzybrush Fox Family is turned to shadows. Grizelda makes a brief appearance. The plot is resolved when the two heroines along with Ruby fox perform a dance and get Smudge to join in and reverse his naughty doings. It's a little ludicrous, but Smudge ends up as a friend.
+ This book ends with a cliffhanger for the finale in Book 8. So though your child doesn't have to read book 5 or 6, they will probably want to read book 8 pretty badly.
+ If your child is afraid of the dark, your child may not like this book as much. There's a lot of tripping around in the dark / animals being turned to shadows before the silly resolution.
+ Neat page or two of picture puzzles in the back.
+ Expect the content to be a tad vapid, as the Rainbow Fairies certainly were, but these books encourage children to read more when they need a mental break from school work.
